Very authentic friendly family run restaurant with Latin American cuisine, including my favorite specialities popusas and sopa siete mares. Unassuming decor, Spanish language TV and plenty of free parking.

Family trip to the restaurant for Father's Day, and it was a great food experience! I would consider this a true "Central American" place. I will definitely eat here again! I knew it was authentic when we were the only people who spoke English as a first language. For people whose who haven't been to Central/South American it is similar to Spanish (Mexican food), but it's not the same... Definitely some place you want to try!

Best traditional Salvadoran food in the city! Their pupusas are the best and their service is great! We had them cater pupusas for our midnight buffet at our wedding - What a hit! Long time repeat customer.

Cabana cafe is okay, clearly a small family run business that is directly associated with the neighbouring store. I had a steak and it was just okay. I highly recommend the papusas which are authentic and frankly spot on, they come with a giant jar of coleslaw and hot sauce, very yummy. Keep in mind that this is an El Salvadoran restaurant.

Food was very different but good .A very busy restaurant so service a little slow.Loved the attached grocery store.

This place offers relatively inexpensive, unpretentious Salvadoran cuisine. The atmosphere is super laid back and the staff are friendly. Generally, we order the El Guanaco platter, extra papusas, and soup, which are all fantastic. I highly recommend the chicken tamales which are loaded with chicken (obviously), olives, and potatoes. This spot also houses La Tiendita, a Latin American grocery with loads of specialty foods, ingredients, and spices.

Authentic central American cuisine. Very friendly staff, wonderful food. Papusas were delicious, and cicarones are awesome.

Authentic home style Salvadorian food. Food was great but make sure you get the slaw with your pupusas, we didn't get any with ours ☹️

I've been coming here for years. It is always fantastic and fresh. When you're here, it doesn't feel like you're in a restaurant; it feels more like you're in someone's home eating their delicious food. I love this place.

If you are looking for the taste of El Salvador, this is the place to go. Prices are fair and the experience is just like being back in central America. They make a delicious pupusa!

Went there today with some friends for the first time and though the food was decent, the service was horrible. The waitress was so rude and so unhelpful with SUCH a bad attitude that I can’t in good conscience recommend this place. For a mom and pop shop, with decent but not amazing food, they should really work on their customer service and hire better servers. Not only was her attitude poor but it felt like she genuinely didn’t feel like doing anything past simply taking the order ( like splitting the bills properly or revising them when we needed something added or changed.) She literally just said no and refused to fix the bills. When we didn’t receive part of an order she literally said it didn’t come with that item despite it being clearly stated on the menu. They are crooks and will jip you out of things you are paying for. I wish I could rate them 0 stars.

We've tried multiple dishes in many occasions and they are all delicious! We're so glad to have this restaurant as a true gem of authentic food from El Salvador! Just make sure to not be in a hurry as the food does take time.

Wow, amazing food. Came in on Wednesday night and nearly empty except for 2 other tables. Had the pupusa's and tamales. Both were excellent! Comes with plenty of salsa (not typical salsa youd find in grocery store but a different kind that had alot more cabbage in it) and toppings. The pupusa's with beans were excellent. I will come here again for sure. Family run place, the server didn't speak much English but ordering was still easy.

We highly recommend this place. The food was absolutely amazing!!!! All the dishes we ordered were fantastic. The plantains were superb, the steak tacos were delicious, and the chorizo sausage was fantastic. The spicy coleslaw was also very tasty. We will be repeat customers.

Amazing staff and great food! We buy many products here that can't be found anywhere else. We love pupusas :)

Good tasty food. Service can sometimes be hit and miss but we still love it. Definitely nothing else like it in Ottawa.

I didn't really know what a papusa was before I went here, but some friends brought us and it was amazing! Friendly staff, good prices and delicious food. Also tried the fried plantains, and at the risk of sounding repetitive, they were awesome! So go here! Go now!

If you are planning to do a Spanish dish, have no doubt that La Cabaña will have all the ingredients you need. But if you want to skip the dishes and craving for latin food, this is the place.

First time having Salvadoran food. It was delicious. Highly recommended. Will go back next time I am in Ottawa.

Meh food and Terrible service! The papusas were more oil than anything and lacked flavour. Not to mention the rice was cold. They took forever to serve the meal (which is usually indicative of food being fresh and so typically a good sign) BUT the food literally seemed like it was sitting out for 40 mins instead. The waitress was rude and had a terrible attitude and was even worse when it came down to prepping the bills. Overall worst experience I’ve ever had service wise at a restaurant. She didn’t even want to give me my receipt which is strange considering I paid for my meal. Definitely won’t be going back.
